VIA proposera également un nouveau Southbridge pendant le quatrième trimestre 2004 : le VT8251. Il supportera 2 ports UDMA133, 2 ports Serial-ATA avec prise en charge NCQ, 8 ports USB 2.0, l'High Definition Audio d'Intel et le RAID.
